GO bg Receives Statewide Award

The Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Office of Transportation Delivery presented the 2011 Outstanding Statewide 5307 Agency Award to the City of Bowling Green’s GO bg Transit, operated by Community Action of Southern Kentucky. Vickie Bourne Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Executive Director highlighted GO bg’s focus on customer service and employee training when presenting the award at the 2011 Kentucky Public Transit Association’s Annual Conference. 

Donna Tooley, Community Action Transportation Director noted the many successes of GO bg transit, “Overall ridership on the system has grown 244% in the past 5 years. This past year, GO bg was featured in two national magazines and we recently celebrated our 100,000^th passenger in a single year.  We are honored to have received this award and do our best to provide the best quality public transit for our passengers.”

GO bg transit provides public transportation within the City of Bowling Green, operating five fixed routes, an early morning shuttle to work, several daily shuttles, a monthly Saturday shopping shuttle with two routes and an ADA Complimentary Paratransit Service.  In a time when gas prices continue to rise and individuals and families are financially struggling, GO bg transit rates have not increased, and opportunities for discounted rates have increased.  Individuals and families utilize this service to go to work, school, medical appointments, and many other activities.  Transit services assist individuals with self reliance, providing opportunities to reach required or necessary appointments, go to the grocery, and/or arrive at work on time.
