Are you Unemployed or Underemployed?
Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 4:09PM Community Action of Southern Kentucky has a new Employment Enhancement Program that will provide opportunities for participants to be self-reliant by better preparing them to obtain, maintain, or improve employment. “The program is in direct line with the Agency’s mission to ‘create opportunities for individuals and families to be self-reliant’” said Cheryl Allen, CEO of Community Action of Southern Kentucky.
Job Development Specialists will work one on one with participants to develop self confidence, fill out job applications, prepare for interviews, build a resume, dress for the interview and discover the skills they possess. The Specialists will help participants to identify and address each participant’s strengths and areas of growth. They will work closely together to identify barriers to employment, and encourage the changes necessary to make employment a reality. This personal training will also provide referrals to address any needs identified that may be outside the employment arena, so that any and all employment barriers can be leveled.
“As enrollees in this program gain job interviews with local employers, financial assistance will be available for items such as appropriate interview clothing, and other job related needs in preparation for job interviews” noted Leslie Talley, Director of Community Services.
If you are interested in enrolling in this program and improving employment skills, contact your local Community Services office or see the Program Flyer below.
