Family Reunification Program
Our Family Reunification Program (FRP) provides trained, in-home specialists to work intensively with families in crisis.
Using the Homebuilders Model, the specialists identify family strengths as well as skill deficiencies and work with family members to increase their ability to function as a unit. Our specialists also assist families in their ability to utilize community resources (health departments, housing, transportation, and so forth).
Family Reunification specialists spend 3-20 hours per week with each family in their home and/or other natural settings for up to 16 weeks. Specialists are available to their respective families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Families are referred to our Family Reunification Program by the Cabinet for Health & Family Services, Division of Protection & Permanency.
Our Goals
With FRP, we strive to provide emotional support, concrete services and to teach methods and techniques for dealing with identified problems. The clinical staff works to empower the parent to successfully confront those problems that have disrupted the family in the past.
The Family Reunification Program's 3 main functions:
- To keep the family safe.
- To create an environment suitable to reunite children in placement with their family.
- To improve family functioning so the behavior that led to crisis will be reduced.
Funding Source
The Family Reunification Program is funded in its entirety through a grant from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Cabinet for Health & Family Services, with state funds allocated by the Kentucky General Assembly.
