Families & Children Together Safely Program
Our Families and Children Together Safely Program (FACTS) provides trained, in-home Specialists to work intensively with families at risk of out of home placement, or in crisis.
Using the Homebuilders Model, the Specialists identify family strengths as well as skill deficiencies and work with family members to increase their ability to function as a unit. Our Specialists also assist families in their ability to utilize community resources (health departments, housing, transportation and so forth).
FACTS Specialists spend 3-20 hours per week with each family in their home and/or other natural settings for up to 16 weeks. Specialists are available to their respective families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Families are referred to our FACTS Program by the Cabinet for Health & Family Services, Division of Protection & Permanency.
Our Goals
With FACTS, we strive to provide emotional support, concrete services and to teach methods and techniques for dealing with identified problems. The Specialists work to empower the parent to successfully confront those problems that have disrupted the family in the past.
The FACTS Program's 3 main functions:
· To keep the family safe.
· To avoid unnecessary placement of children in out-of-home care.
· To improve family functioning so the behavior that led to crisis will be reduced.
Funding Source
The FACTS Program is funded in its entirety through a grant from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Cabinet for Health & Family Services, with state funds allocated by the Kentucky General Assembly.
